Welcome to the 2013 Tunnel 2 Towers Run London (approx 5Km) Run, Jog or Walk......
After the last run on Sunday the 21st of October 2012, it became obvious that the emotion and requirement was there to make this an annual event. So we looked at our reasoning behind the event, the inspirations and also what other events were booked in to London. taking the initial inpsiration from the Stephen Siller's New York Tunnel to Towers Run, we also aligned ourselves alongside the tragic 7/7 incident that we suffered in London in 2005 and lastly looked at the weather last year in October BRrrrrrrrrr!!! is the word there. We looked at finding a suitable date that emcumbassed these and also avoided events that were also pre booked. The FREE date was Sunday the 21st of July 2013 at a slightly later Start time of 11;00 Hrs. Unfortunately this also happened to be yet another Blue watch day duty for the LFB personnel - we looked at so many other options and there just wasn't any - so please Blue Watch, we really did try to avoid holding it on your duty dates - SORRY.
Spookily this date was also the date of the foiled London Bomb plots, for those old enough they will remember these famous words - "A Small Step for Man - a Giant Leap for Mankind!" - of course, it was Neil Armstrong who was the first man on the moon........So if anyone wants to come dressed as a Spaceman they'll be some special prizes for you. We'll even include a one eyed one horned purple people eating monster if you dress that way !!!!
We may have some news for everyone for an event that we may be part of prior to the T2T itself so watch this space....
We have a very Special Superstar starting the run this year in Lance Bombardier Ben Parkinson, famous for carrying the Olympic Torch against all the odds, please look him up on Google you'll surely recognise this courageous man and he'll be with us on Sunday. We are hoping to have a few other Special guests including the Siller Family who last year couldn't make the run due to a very urgent family medical issue, Katie Piper will be joining us alongside many Team GB Paralympians, a British Champion and Commonwealth Lightweight Boxing Champion Kevin Mitchell (The Dagenham Destroyer), we have Millwall Footbal Club, Juniors and some players and the Lion Mascot, Crystal Palace Junior players and the Eagle Mascot, Yorkshire Tea's very own Teapot will also be m,aking an appearance and of course we'll all have a proper cuppa at the Finish Line After-Party. Alongside the Fullers Brewery London Pride and the London Brewery alliance Beers.
This year we are introducing changing tents and a means of tranferring personal bags from the start to the Finish so that people can change again and enjoy the party, we're just hoping to close a deal with the Big Blue U (Unilever) who will supply some deodurants etc.. so we can all smell and look nice. centre Circle and HailO Cab app will also still be supporting us for the whole event as they did so well last year. Of course BMW who supplied escort and lead bikes and electric cars which were absolutely superb.
All in all we are looking to have a great day for one and all and to achieve the same emotion as last year and also with good weather have a great after-party - so there's no excuses now book out for the day and have a great time with us....T2T London.
